I sketched these beautiful Blackcaps in my back garden. Like many of my drawings and watercolours I sketch the subject live in pencil and work up the sketch afterwards in the studio.

The black-headed version is the male and the red-headed is the female. You can make your own mind up about the pencil sketches!
