I
originally trained in Design at Medway College of Design. I specialised
in architecture, although my primary interest now lies in natural
history subjects with occasional forays in to portraiture and
still life.
My
natural history paintings mostly concentrate on British wildlife,
though a trip to the Falkland Islands provided plenty of inspiration.
I work from life whenever possible, usually sketching in pencil
and watercolour and working up sketches in acrylics or oils. My
most recent work reflects my increasing interest in wildlife camouflage
and repeating patterns in the landscape. Since 2008 I've been
concentrating on illustrations for a book on the wildlife depicted
in ancient Egyptian art.
My
work has been shown on BBC television and is held in collections
as far afield as the Falkland Islands, Trinidad, Australia and
South Africa. I was elected to fellowship of the RSA in 2006.
