These Magellanic penguins were painted after a field trip to the Falklands, which resulted in many penguin pictures. It was so interesting to see how the different species reacted to humans. When I sat sketching Rockhoppers those inquisitive little penguins were practically pecking at my toes, but the Magellanic were the shy penguins and would dive in to their burrows if anyone came too close. I love
the way the Magellanic penguin markings mimic the lines on the rocks,
almost as though they'd evolved out of the rock itself. As well as providing
practical camouflage, they appeal to my interest in the repeating colours
and patterns found in nature. Why choose an original painting? - Original artwork enhances your room and lifts your mood. Feel a rush of pleasure every time you look at it. - Be the envy of your friends and family - no one else has this painting - Bring the beauty of Falklands wildlife into your home - "A good painting to me has always been like a friend. It keeps me company, comforts and inspires." Hedy Lamarr
